Reuters reported on September 12, the United Kingdom noted on Friday that the country will be sign a worth of more than 2.4 billion pounds (about 3.9 billion U.S. dollars) commercial agreement with China; George Osborne, finance minister of the country, will meet Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai in London.
All the details of future transactions are not yet known. But the British Ministry of Finance said it will include a $ 1 billion worth of China and UK joint enterprises related to an oil port in Malaysia, and a worthe of 200 million pounds projects in China to develop nursing homes and vocational training schools.
In addition, the United Kingdom will repaid visa fees to up to 25,000 Chinese tourists and tourist groups during the period from 2015 to 2017.
George Osborne’s meeting with Ma Kai is part of the annual Sino-British economic and financial dialogue, whiche was held in Beijing last year.
British Conservative-led government has been trying to increase exports to China since 2010, partly because the British economic growth in many of the major export markets of the continental Europe remains slow.
Last year, China is the UK's seventh largest merchandise export market, with exports volume of 12.4 billion pounds, accounting for about 4 percent of total exports. During the same period, the total merchandise imports from China to the UK is £ 33.4 billion.
On Thursday, the Bank of England said it has issued a wholesale banking license to China's largest bank-Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC). Therefore, ICBC became the first to open a new branch of the Chinese banks in the UK for more than 50 years.
Britain has been hoping to attract Chinese banks and for offshore Renminbi trading, consolidating its position as the world's major foreign exchange trading center.
In March, China and Britain signed an agreement on the establishment of RMB clearing services in the London. London is competing with Luxembourg, New York, Paris and Frankfurt for the status of the western largest offshore RMB trading center.
George Osborne also has said he wants to see that London Stock Exchange and China Stock Exchange can cooperate with each other; in June, he announced that Britain will offer Renminbi-denominated transaction guarantees.
