Julia Klockner, Germany's food and agriculture minister, signed a letter of intent on Thursday to expand cooperation on climate and agriculture during her four-day economic visit to China this week. Klöckner's visit will focus on promoting cooperation projects on environmental protection and friendly animal agriculture.The two sides will also strengthen cooperation in food safety and other areas.

China is willing to increase its imports of German pork and may soon open its doors to German beef, DPA reported.
China has sent a good signal that it is willing to re-import beef from Germany, Klöckner said after talks with Chinese agriculture minister han changfu in Beijing on Wednesday. German beef has been banned in China since mad cow disease in Europe. Mr Han said he would work for China to allow imports of German, French and Irish beef and consult with customs.

Affected by African swine fever, China has expressed great interest in increasing German pork imports. Swine fever could kill up to 20% of China's pigs this year, or 400 million pigs. Tight pork supplies and rising prices have created instability in the hearts of the people. Klöckner said the Chinese side has made a number of requests to Germany to expand pork exports to China.
双方还愿意扩大农业科技领域的合作，并谈及农业技术转让。但这位基民盟政治家表示，德方不会单方敞开知识的大门，中方也必须愿意敞开他们的科研成果。
戈洛克内尔还希望中方扩大德国苹果，小麦，家禽等产品进入中国市场的渠道。
The two sides are also willing to expand cooperation in agricultural science and technology and talk about the transfer of agricultural technology. But the cdu politician says Germany will not open the door to knowledge unilaterally, and China must be willing to open its scientific research too.
Klöckner also wants China to expand access to the Chinese market for German apples, wheat, poultry and other products.

Klöckner said she would not pursue trade with China at all costs, but would focus on priorities. For example, focus on sustainable development of agriculture and forestry economy. She also suggested China adopt a new soil policy to maintain the land, reduce fertilization and pesticides. She says China has come to realize that it is applying too much fertilizers. China fertilizes three times as much as Germany. Moreover, China's land is depleted and polluted. So China is bullish on German agricultural products." China is willing to learn from us and must do so to improve its image and enhance sustainability," Mr. Gollockner said.
Chinainout is the biggest platform for frozen pork, beef, chicken business promotion in China.
